Belmont – Charlotte

Belmont-Charlotte, (not to be confused with the town of Belmont located west of Charlotte) is located just North of Uptown right outside the 277 Loop.  Bordered by 10th Street, Central Ave, Hawthorne, Parkwood Ave., and N. Davidson St., its closest neighbors are NoDa, Villa Heights and Plaza Midwood. Belmont-Charlotte however, is a much more affordable price. Doubt it’ll stay that way in the long run though, with the Light Rail slotted to come near the area in the future (currently projected for 2017).

It has a colorful, checkered past, but this neighborhood is well on its way to becoming a great spot to live, and it’s really close to Uptown.  A hidden gem, a handful of homeowners have discovered how convenient this location is, and are part of the revitalization of this neighborhood. There’s the free mini library on Pegram St., where neighbors can take a book or leave a book. Hawthorne High School is currently under construction.  It is now a magnet school, focusing on the health sciences.  It’s also home to Soulshine Organics, an urban farm using all-organic methods to grow fruits, vegetables, flowers, and herbs. The House United Build; where Ty Pennington was involved with the house, is located at 15th St and Pegram St.  The Democratic National Convention (DNC) folks built one half, and the Republic National Convention (RNC) folks built the other half.  Both were brought here to Charlotte and put together.  The home was dedicated to a Veteran who now resides in the home.  The Little Sugar Creek Greenway runs though Belmont-Charlotte. It is a part of the Greenway Trails winding throughout the city.  It’s a great place to get in an early morning walk or bike ride and feel like you’re out in the woods somewhere away from civilization.
