Back in the college days, I, like many others in their late teens/early 20’s, was still trying to figure out who I was and what I wanted to be. I changed majors a number of times but nothing felt quite right. I majored in business management, psychology, interior design, and landscape design. All of these things appealed to me on different levels but no one thing seemed to be the right fit.
In the meantime, I was holding down a full time job at FedEx. The company is well known for training its people in customer service, priding itself on providing value and top notch service, and going above and beyond when needed. I learned multi tasking, how to diffuse challenging situations, and area knowledge. I also started rehabbing houses on the side in my spare time and became an active part of the real estate investor community here in Charlotte. Rehabbing, being a landlord, wholesaling; I’ve done a bit of it all. This was when I truly started to feel I was in my element.
I decided to get my real estate license in 2011. Well, once I hit my 25 years at FedEx and decided to “retire” so I could do what I truly loved, what essentially lit me up like a firefly. All those majors I “tried out” as a college student helped to prepare me for what I do now. I can visualize the diamond in the rough and have an eye for rehabs. I am now working with builder/developers as well, helping with floor plans, finishes etc.
When I am not helping clients find their perfect home, or piece of land, I can usually be found at the Whitewater Center with my dog, sipping a latte at Central Coffee in Elizabeth or dropping in for a yoga class in Plaza Midwood or Dilworth. I truly enjoy becoming a part of the neighborhoods I love, and love to discover new restaurants, galleries, or ambling through the little storefronts that make each neighborhood unique.
